Mastering Your Mindset -- The Essential Element for Success

It's amazing how fast you can change your brain’s patterns once you start to consistently feed your mind with new empowering messages.

I've almost finished the Dailygreatness Training Journal: 12 Weeks to a Rocking Fit Body & Mind for the second time round -- 24 weeks total-- where I am consistently feeding my mind healthy empowering thoughts that support my health & fitness goals.

Last night my honey bunny (pet name for my newlywed husband) and I were having some Friday night couch time a.k.a watching TV. I was hungry and maybe a little bored as I don't normally watch TV and unconsciously found my way to the refrigerator looking for comfort food.

It wasn't until I was back on the couch that I realised I'd pulled out bean sprouts! Never before have I reached for bean sprouts. Usually I'm craving and reaching for something sweet and unhealthy, especially if you're sitting at home watching TV on a Friday night - right!?

Now, bean sprouts might seem trival but the point is, I wasn't reaching for something unhealthy like chips or chocolate. I was making an unconscious healthy food choice and I love seeing change take hold unconsciously. That’s when I know the work I’m doing is, in fact, working.

The same goes for thoughts. We are always reaching for thoughts, either consciously or unconsciously. The question is, are we reaching for healthy ones or unhealthy ones?

You see, our choices are often not really choices but simply patterns -- unconscious responses to situations.

We think we are making choices but most of the time we’re simply falling into our old conditioned patterns of behaviour.

Wouldn’t it be great if all our unconscious choices were transformed into healthy ones; choices that moved us in the direction of our dreams instead of in the direction of fear and self-sabotaging habits.

When we begin to master our mindset and make new healthy choices unconsciously, like reaching for bean sprouts for example ;) that's when we know we have successfully upgraded our thinking and changed our habits for good.

Only when we have upgraded our thinking and our habits can we expect different results in life.

You can never change your results before you change your habits and you will never change your habits until you change your thoughts. It never has been, nor will it ever be, the other way around.

To achieve your goals and create different results, you need to first master your mindset and then all else begins to fall into place. This is the essential element for success in any area of life.

Try this now:

Stating you intentions for how you wish to think, feel and act is the beginning of upgrading the neurological pathways in your brain that eventually shift your behaviours to those that support your life, instead of repeating behaviours that keep you stuck.

Work on feeding your mind with new healthy messages and thoughts. Start now by stating three intentions. This is not difficult or some kind of wishful thinking. These are simply affirmations, values or characteristics that you wish to embody. Write them down, say them out loud with meaning and watch your mindset transform your results and the quality of your day.
